Virtual STEM Role Model Session-October 1, 2024

Hello, everyone!

Below you will find a more detailed explanation of the resources that I mentioned during the Virtual STEM Role Model Session. I have included links to the internships that I’ve applied to, along with some additional resources to help you explore other opportunities.

These are links to the internships that I have completed and mentioned during the Virtual Session. The only one that I have not included is the internship that I did with my physics professor during the semester (For that internship I just asked the professor if I could work with him and that was how I got it).

Internships that I have done

General Internship Resources

  • NSF REU Database: The NSF REU site is a great place to start. You can filter opportunities by subject and location, providing you the chance to gain experience and even travel.
  • Industry Example – Amazon Internships: I briefly mentioned industry internships in the presentation. Here’s an example from Amazon: Amazon Internships.
  • Academic Example – UCLA Neuroscience Scholars: For academic internships, this UCLA program is an excellent example. Many similar programs follow the same format in terms of requirements: UCLA Neuroscience Scholars.
